The History of Chris*Craft & GarWood Boats

GarWood and Chris-Craft are two iconic American boat manufacturers with a rich history in the marine industry. GarWood was founded by Garfield Wood in 1916 and quickly gained a reputation for building high-performance speedboats. Wood was a pioneering figure in the development of powerboat racing and set numerous speed records with his innovative designs. On the other hand, Chris-Craft was established in 1874 by Christopher Columbus Smith and his brother Hank. Originally a small boat-building business in Michigan, Chris-Craft grew to become one of the largest and most successful boat manufacturers in the world. The company gained fame for its elegant wooden boats, known for their quality construction and timeless design. Chris-Craft boats became synonymous with luxury and style, attracting a loyal following of boating enthusiasts and collectors.
